We have finalized the new Board Slate for 2014. These individuals were selected and have been proposed to the current Board for the 2014 elections. For those that don't know, YNPN of Greater Seattle has annual elections each June for the new board members. Half of the Board positions end every other year, leaving half of the Board slots open each summer. Potential board members are nominated in April and selected by the Nominating Committee in May. The slate is then sent to the current Board at their June meeting for a vote. If ratified, this slate will begin their service at the first July meeting. This year for our second official election, we had the both difficult and happy challenge of having more applicants than positions. The following nominees have been selected to serve a two-year term on the Board.
Kate Jesse – Co-Chair
Kate has served YNPN Greater Seattle faithfully for several years as we've worked to rebuild our chapter and as one of our fearless Co-Chairs this past year and we are pleased to share they she has been nominated to continue on as the Co-Chair. Her dedication to non-profit causes including the Seattle WalkABulls and her former position as Office Manager at Northwest Regional Primary Care Association.
Allie Tripp – Communications and Marketing
Allie came to us from YNPN Boston. She filled a vacant position earlier this year as an Board Member At Large. Her time here has been dedicated to building our social media presence and we are excited to have her come onboard as the new Communications and Marketting Committee Co-Chair. During her free time, Allie is studying furiously as a candidate for her MPA at the Evan's School of Public Affairs.
Amy Crossman – Programming
Another Evan's School candidate, Amy Crossman also joined the board in early 2014 as a Programming Committee Co-Chair. Amy has a passion for nonprofit policy and research and is seeking to help change the limiting perceptions within and surrounding nonprofits. She also works as a Zip Tour Guide and Challenge Course Facilitator out in Bellevue for Northwest Teambuilding.
Joleen Oerman – National Liaison
Our third Evan's School candidate, and also a facilitator with Northwest Teambuilding, Joleen has spend the past few years working as a Para Educator for the Overlake Hospital Specialty School, a school that services students with emotional and behavioral disorders. We are excited to have her onboard as the new National Liaison.
Maggie Redd – Board Member At Large
Maggie has also served YNPN Greater Seattle for several years as we've worked to get this chapter off the ground and back into a recognized status with National. We are glad to have her onboard again and are eager to have her experience with strategic planning and Board development from her work as the Executive Assistant at Northwest Regional Primary Care Association.
Mariam Ansari – Board Member At Large
Mariam hails to us from UC Irvine. Her experience in international studies and conflict resolution there led her to complete a Master of Social Entrepreneurship at the Hult International Business School in London. She has a breadth of internships on her resume and has worked as a mentor and educator. We are excited for her to bring her passions for helping and connection people to great resources.
